PPL Corporation, based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, has announced plans to seek an increase in its base rate later this year. This marks the first time in a decade that the company is pursuing such an adjustment. PPL President and CEO Vince Sorgi emphasized the company's commitment to efficiency and affordability, noting that this proposed increase reflects their ongoing efforts to maintain reliable service.

The proposed rate hike will require approval from the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission before it can be implemented. If approved, PPL customers may see higher utility bills in the near future. The company has not yet specified the exact amount of the proposed increase or when it would take effect.

PPL's decision to seek a base rate increase comes at a time when utility companies across the nation are grappling with rising operational costs and the need to invest in infrastructure improvements. The outcome of the Public Utility Commission's review will determine the next steps for PPL and its customers.
