Massive Barn Fire In York County

A large barn fire erupted in York County, Pennsylvania, on Monday (August 18), drawing more than 40 emergency units to the scene. The fire broke out around 7:06 p.m. in the 600 block of Hillview Road in Hellam Township. According to LOCAL 21, the blaze was visible from over three miles away, with heavy smoke billowing into the sky.

Firefighters from Hellam Township Police, Wrightsville Fire Department, and Lancaster County worked together to contain the fire by 11 p.m. Crews remained on site to extinguish any remaining embers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all animals were safely evacuated from the barn. However, Local 21 News reported that one person was injured, although the extent of their injuries is unknown.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Hillview Road remains closed at the intersection with Picking Road. As the community awaits further updates, residents are reminded to stay clear of the area while emergency crews continue their work.
