Pennsylvania Senator Dave McCormick led a group of lawmakers on a tour of the BAE Systems plant in York County on Tuesday (August 19). The facility plays a crucial role in manufacturing parts for combat vehicles, contributing significantly to the local economy. According to BAE Systems, the plant is valued at one billion dollars to the York community.
During the visit, Senator McCormick highlighted the plant's importance, noting the employment of 1,800 people, including 750 United Steelworkers. "These jobs require very sophisticated skills," McCormick stated, emphasizing the plant's role as a "great source of growth and opportunity" for the area.
The York facility is responsible for producing parts for the armored multi-purpose vehicle and the amphibious combat vehicle, underscoring its strategic importance in military manufacturing.
