School Bus Accident Mars First Day in Adams County

On the first day of school, a bus carrying students from the Gettysburg Area School District was involved in an accident on Fairfield Road in Highland Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. when the bus, transporting middle and high school students, was struck by another vehicle.

According to a statement from the Gettysburg Area School District, one student was taken to a local hospital as a precaution but was able to return to school later that morning. All other students on board were examined by medical personnel at the scene and subsequently arrived safely at school. The district ensured that families of the students involved were promptly informed.

Pennsylvania State Police at the Gettysburg Barracks are currently investigating the crash. The school district emphasized that the safety and well-being of students and staff are their top priority and expressed gratitude for the quick response from emergency personnel and school staff.

The incident highlights the importance of road safety, especially as students return to school. The investigation is ongoing, and the district is adhering to all required accident protocols.
