Fire Reported At Lumber Manufacturer

A significant fire broke out at Weaber Lumber in South Annville Township, Lebanon County, on Monday night (September 8). The blaze was reported shortly after 10 p.m. at the sawmill located on Mount Wilson Road. First responders arrived to find the building engulfed in flames, prompting a three-alarm response.

According to Lawn Fire Company Chief Dillon Wilson, approximately 1.1 million gallons of water have been used from the on-site hydrant system to combat the fire, with additional water brought in by tankers. Chief Wilson noted, "It got ahead of us," emphasizing the challenge posed by the combustible materials present in the building.

The fire remains active, and hot spots are expected to persist for several days. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. A stretch of Mount Wilson Road has been closed due to the ongoing firefighting efforts.

Weaber Lumber, established in 1941 by Walter H. Weaber, has grown into one of the nation’s leading hardwood manufacturers. This is not the first incident at the facility this year; a previous fire in May was caused by equipment failure, spreading flames to insulation and sawdust debris. That fire was ruled accidental, with no injuries reported.

As the situation develops, authorities continue to investigate the cause of the current blaze. The community remains on alert as firefighters work tirelessly to bring the fire under control. For updates, stay tuned to LOCAL 21 CLICK HERE.
