Stabbing Suspect Ran at Lower Paxton Police With Knife

Dauphin County officials are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred on Saturday (November 1). According to the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office, the incident began with a reported stabbing in the 4000 block of Fawn Drive in Lower Paxton Township. Officers arrived to find a woman with severe stab wounds to her face and abdomen, requiring immediate surgery. She is currently recovering in the hospital.

The suspect, reportedly the woman's husband, was located shortly after in the 4200 block of Valley Road, approximately a quarter-mile from the initial scene. He was armed with a large knife and, despite officers' commands to drop the weapon, charged at them in an aggressive manner. In response, an officer fired his weapon, fatally striking the suspect. The Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police stated that the use of force was in fear of death or serious bodily injury.

District Attorney Fran Chardo has indicated that the shooting appears justified, but a full investigation is underway to confirm this. The identities of the man and woman involved have not been released. The incident has been determined to be a case of domestic violence, and authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to safety.

CBS 21 reported that the suspect was armed with a "very large and very deadly" knife. The Dauphin County District Attorney's Office will release official findings at a later date.
