Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams celebrated her re-election victory on Tuesday (November 4) by addressing the contentious campaign run by her opponent, City Treasurer Dan Miller. Williams won the mayoral race with 56% of the vote, defeating Miller, who garnered 43%. In her victory speech, Williams accused Miller of running a campaign filled with "lies," claiming he labeled her as corrupt and incompetent.

Miller, who initially lost to Williams in the Democratic primary, ran as a Republican in the general election. He conceded the race early on election night. Despite the heated campaign, Williams expressed gratitude to her supporters, saying, "Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for trusting me." However, she was less conciliatory towards Miller, stating, "We'll see because guess what, I'm the big cheese in charge," when asked if she could work with him moving forward.

Miller, on the other hand, attributed his loss to the challenges of running as a Republican in a predominantly Democratic city and suggested that race may have played a role in the election outcome. He expressed disappointment, saying, "Four more years of incompetent leadership, corruption, is not going to be healthy for Harrisburg."

Williams plans to focus on uplifting all areas of Harrisburg in her second term, but first intends to take a much-needed vacation after nine months of campaigning. The election has highlighted the ongoing political tensions in Harrisburg, with Williams and Miller both vowing to continue their public service roles in the city.
