Online sports betting users in Pennsylvania will soon need to verify their identity before placing wagers. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced that new regulations will require users to upload a photo of their government-issued ID when setting up accounts on platforms like DraftKings and FanDuel. Additionally, users must complete a "liveness check" by taking a selfie and recording a video clip, which will be compared to the uploaded ID.
These measures aim to enhance security and ensure compliance with state regulations. The new rules are expected to be in place by the end of February, impacting all online sports betting activities within the state.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has not provided further details on the implementation process or potential consequences for non-compliance. However, users are encouraged to prepare for these changes to avoid disruptions in their betting activities.
