A man from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer. The Mechanicsburg Police Department reported that 46-year-old Matthew Hobaugh was involved in a domestic incident on Patton Drive on the night of December 18. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Hobaugh heavily intoxicated and uncooperative.
According to police, Hobaugh became combative and resisted arrest. During the attempt to detain him, he allegedly elbowed an officer in the face. As a result, Hobaugh was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest. He is currently being held in Cumberland County Prison with bail set at $1,000.
